Traditional Funeral Service
Most of us are somewhat familiar with the traditional funeral service. With the body of the deceased present, scripture is read and eulogies are made under the direction of the clergy. The location of a traditional service usually takes place at a funeral home or a church. If visitation does take place, then it will occur the day or days immediately preceding the actual funeral. Sometimes the deceased is embalmed so the body can be viewed in an open casket.
After the memorial service takes place, the body is transported to a cemetery via a hearse. This is usually accompanied by a procession of cars. When the body arrives at its final destination, it is lowered into its gravesite where another short burial ceremony takes place.
Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home will take care of all the logistics and paperwork. This will include recovering the body from the location that they passed, filing for permits and the death certificate and notification of the local papers with an obituary.
Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home will gladly assist families with anything that is needed at this most difficult time. These include transportation for the deceased and family via limo, flowers at the funeral home and the gravesite (or religious building) chosen by the family, embalming and performance of the service.
Burial
When a loved one is buried, it creates a permanent resting place where family and friends can visit for years and generations to come. Burial is an option with or without a graveside service. Once the decision to bury has been made, the location of the final resting place will need to be selected. A member of our staff will help guide you through this process, including choosing a casket and headstone or marker.
Traditional Funeral Service

For families who choose not to involve clergy, our funeral directors are available to lead the service. They are specially trained to create meaningful, healing experiences that honor your loved one’s memory and support your journey through grief.
Viewing
A viewing provides an opportunity to say goodbye and pay their respects on a more intimate level. Spending time with the deceased before their service, whether privately or with family and friends, can be profoundly healing and can help those grieving accept their loss and begin to heal.
Graveside Service
A graveside or committal service is usually held immediately after the funeral and offers a meaningful moment of closure. Whether you prefer an intimate gathering or a larger group of family and friends, this service can be tailored to reflect what feels most personal and fitting for your loved one.
