Zoppy, Joseph Jr. age 81 of Newton died peacefully Monday April 14th, 2014 at his home following a long illness. Born and raised in Stroudsburg, PA, Joseph had lived many years in Blairstown before moving to Newton twenty eight years ago. Son of the late Joseph and Frances Zoppy Sr., Joseph was a graduate of Cosmetology School and was a licensed New Jersey Barber. He had a long career as a Barber working many years as the in house Barber for Graystone Psychiatric Hospital Morris Plains, NJ as well as the Owner Operator of Joe’s Barber Shop Franklin, NJ for many years before his retirement.
Mr. Zoppy was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. He proudly served in the Navy and Army National Guard for almost 40 years, being honorably discharged in 1992. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, Joseph will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his beloved wife Julia “Judy” B. (Pierson) Zoppy, his six children, his sister as well as his many grand and great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Thursday April 17th, 2014 at 12:00 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home two hours prior to the funeral services.
