Yucius, Bradley Alan

 In Uncategorized

Bradley Alan Yucius was born on November 24, 1979 in Newton NJ, and died at the home of his mother and stepfather on September 8, 2017. An avid outdoorsman, Brad loved spending his time fishing, hunting, hiking with his dogs, bird watching, and playing disc golf. He was always excited for baseball or hockey games and could be counted on to bring more fun to every adventure. You would have a difficult time finding someone more kind, compassionate, or gentle. Brad would do anything for anyone, be it friend or stranger, and expect nothing in return. His dry sense of humor, quick wit, loyalty, and big hugs will be missed by all who knew him.

Brad graduated from Prescott College in Prescott Arizona where he ultimately made his home and many wonderful friends. He enjoyed the desert southwest as well as the woods, streams, and lakes of New Jersey. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with loved ones and his constant canine companions, Buddy and Sal.

Addiction took our son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, friend. Brad was undergoing treatment and working hard to get healthy but struggled, and on this day heroin won. Strength of character, commitment to one’s self, and the support of others is not always enough. The disease is real and the effects are devastating.

Brad is survived by his mother and stepfather, Lisa and Nick Arbolino of Stillwater NJ, father Alan Yucius of Tamarac FL, sister Rachel Strayer and her husband Travis of Carlisle PA, sister Lauren Huffman of Sparta NJ, dear friend TJ Huffman of Culver Lake NJ, nieces and nephews Rowan & Jack Pallis and Olivia & Brody Huffman, aunts and uncles Susan Cirigliano of New York City, and Bob & June Yucius of Lafayette NJ, cousins Maritza Schaeffer of Dobbs Ferry NY, Szoke Schaeffer of Brooklyn NY, Jennifer Yucius of Richmond VT, Jill Retz of Wantage NJ, and countless extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 2-5pm at the Stillwater Fire House 929 Stillwater Road Rt. 521Newton NJ 07860, with a commemoration at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to honor Brad’s memory to Caron Treatment Centers Attn: Development Office PO Box 150 Wernersville PA 19565 or online at https://www.caron.org/give-to-caron/donate-form, or The National Disaster Search Dog Foundation 6800 Wheeler Canyon Road Santa Paula CA 93060 or online at https://searchdogfoundation.org/donate.
