
Williams, Daniel James
Daniel J. Williams born June 4, 1988 passed prematurely on September 30, 2017 following a brief illness. Dan was a lifelong resident of Newton, New Jersey. He actively participated in numerous community activities. He attended Camp Auxilium, and was a member of several Newton soccer and baseball youth teams. Dan attended Merriam grade school and Halsted Middle School.
Dan was a 2006 graduate of Newton High School. During high school he was a member of the football and track teams. He was a three year starter at defensive tackle for the Braves. In his senior year he was a First Team All S.C.I.L. and Group 2 All-State selection in football. He capped his senior year by winning the Sussex County championship in the Shot Put.
Dan attended Sussex County Community College and pursued a career in the information technology field with Joy Systems in Somerset, NJ. He was looking forward to pursuing his career in the emerging cyber-security area of technology.
Dan was predeceased by his grandparents Robert and Marjorie Williams, Daniel and Teresa Cassino, and his Uncle Keith Williams. Dan is survived by his parents Paul and Ellen Williams of Newton, NJ, his brother Paul Williams, Jr. of Newton, NJ, his sister Jennifer Williams of Milton, PA, numerous aunts and uncles, dozens of cousins, and a loyal cohort of friends.
To paraphrase Shakespeare; Nothing becomes of your life like your leaving it. The outpouring of love and comfort from his family, his friends, former teachers, and the community stands as a symbol of the impact he had in a life that was all too short.
Memorial services will be held Saturday evening October 7, 2017 at 8:30 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ. Visitation will be in the Funeral home Saturday from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials in Daniel’s memory may be made to the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice #99 Sparta Ave. Newton, NJ www.karenannquinlanhospice.org.
