Robert (“Bob”) Warsager, age 71, of the Forest LakesSection of Andover Township, New Jersey, died peacefully at home on Saturday, August 17, 2013, following a long illness. Born in Manhattan, he grew up in Seagate, New York. Bobalso lived in Newark and Montclair for many years before moving to Andover fifteen years ago.

Son of the late Rubin and Ruth (Paul) Warsager, Bobwas a brilliant and talented man, truly adored by his 3 children and 6 grandchildren. He was an avid reader – never without a book in hand. He was also a writer, artist and painter. His interest in drawing and painting spans many years, and he leaves behind a priceless collection of his own original artwork.

Bob’s first love was classical music but he also enjoyed a wide range of others such as the Beatles, Irakere, Luciano Pavarotti, Tabou Combo, just to name a few. A talented musician himself, he taught himself to play the piano by ear. Through the years, his wife and children enjoyed listening to him play compositions by Beethoven and Bach, as well as one of his favorite rag time pieces, Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin.

An avid and competitive level chess player, Bob was a former member of the Montclair Chess club and also enjoyed playing at chess clubs in the Village in New York City. Most recently, he was thrilled to share this interest with his oldest grandson, who is 7 years old. He was also a NY Mets and NY Giants fan, through the good and bad times.

Bob had an incredible sense of humor that never wavered, even through illness. He was a wonderful joke teller and was well known for his various “accents”. He had a wealth of knowledge on a wide range of topics and introduced his children to many of their own current interests that they hold near and dear to their hearts.

A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Bob will truly be missed. His memory will be carried on by those closest to him, including his beloved wife of thirty-six years, Evelyne (Raphael) Warsager, his loving children: Jean, Katherine and Jed, andhis cherished grandchildren: Nadia and Aidan Davis, Kaegan and Farrow Redington, and Jacoby and Cameron Warsager, and his caring sister, Susan Berlin, and nephews Jason and Eric Berlin.
