Walsh, Bruce, H., 73, of Byram Twp., N.J. passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018. Born and raised on Staten Island, NY, he spent many summers visiting Cranberry Lake before making Cranberry Lake his primary residence for the last several years.

Son of the late Hilary J. Walsh and Katherine M. Walsh (nee Canney), Mr. Walsh attended St. Peter’s High School on Staten Island and graduated in 1963, before pursuing a B.A. in English from Iona College in 1967. Later on, Mr. Walsh went on to achieve a Master’s Degree in Teaching from City University of New York, and a Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School.

After completing law school, Mr. Walsh went on to have a successful private law practice on Staten Island for 37 years. In addition to serving both the Staten Island, NY, and Fanwood, NJ communities as an attorney, Mr. Walsh held various positions in elected offices. Mr. Walsh served on the NYC, District 31 School Board, and then, after moving to Fanwood, NJ, he served as a member of the Fanwood Borough Council. While on the council of Fanwood, Mr. Walsh served as the Police Commissioner. Prior to retiring, Mr. Walsh also served as an attorney for the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.

In his spare time, Mr. Walsh was a long-time member of the Cranberry Lake Community Club, where he was a former representative of the Board of Governors and served as the Vice President of the Executive Board. Further, Mr. Walsh acquired his pilot’s license and enjoyed boating, riding his motorcycle, playing poker and bridge, spending time with friends and family, and flying an occasional plane here and there.

Bruce was pre-deceased in life by his sister, Eileen Walsh Herrlich. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Cable Perkins; his children: Jennifer Walsh and her husband, Salvatore Fazzino; Michael Walsh and his wife, Kathleen (O’Callaghan); Emily Crispino and her husband, Michael Crispino; his grandchildren: Matthew, Mary Katherine, and Alexander Fazzino; Michael, Natalie, and Thomas Crispino; and, Timothy and Mackenzie Walsh. Additionally, Bruce is survived by his siblings, Neil Walsh, Richard Walsh, Kevin Walsh, and Patricia Walsh-Pierce. Bruce is also survived by: Judy Walsh, Irene Kruse, William Herrlich, Lori Cable, Alison Gergus and their families along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Calling hours will be at the Iliff Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main St, Newton, NJ on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 2:00 PM-5:00 PM.
