VanHouten, Janet L. age 70 of Sandyston Twp., NJ died Thursday August 29th, 2013 peacefully at her home. Born in Newton, NJ she grew up in Sussex County and had lived many years in Phoenix, AZ and Homosassa, FL before coming back to New Jersey in 2006.
Daughter of the late Elmer “Toby” and Frances (Snyder-Rupp) Rome, Janet was a graduate of the Newton High School. She had worked many years for Newton Industries before her retirement. She enjoyed doing Genealogy research and spending time with her family. Janet will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Pre deceased by her brother Richard Rome, Janet is survived by her beloved husband Gary R., her son James E. of Gold Canyon, AZ, her daughters Terrie A. VanHouten of Sandyston Twp., and Rebecca L. VanHouten of Homosassa, FL. Also surviving are her brother Robert Rome of Homosassa, FL, her sisters Jeanne Pitts of Boerne, TX and Donna Doty of Beverly Hills, FL. As well as her grandchildren Jennifer and Jesse VanHouten, Marshal Sooter and Hailey Demarest and her great grandchildren Kane and Kieran VanHouten.
Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Iliff Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main Street, Newton, N.J. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Karen Ann Quinlan Center of Hope Hospice #99 Sparta Ave. Newton, NJ 07860.
