Theodorakis, Michael. age 90 of Eustis, Florida passed away peacefully Monday December 7, 2020 at the South Campus Care Center, Leesburg, Florida. Born and raised in New Brunswick, NJ, he had also lived many years in Bridgewater, NJ. He then enjoyed living with his wife Irene in in the Florida Keys until settling into Eustis, FL.
Son of the late Stelios Theodorakis and Thalia Proghoulis, Michael served his country in the Air Force, and part of his deployment was in Libya in the 1950’s. He served his church, St George, from a young age as an altar boy, in its original location in Highland Park. When the church was relocated to Piscataway, as an adult and a devout parishioner, he worked on several church committees and ministries.
Michael was the owner of many businesses throughout his life. From restaurants in Middlesex, NJ and New Hope, PA to selling sunglasses and sunblock to resorts in Florida, to selling sunglasses online, he approached selling with creativity and enthusiasm. Throughout his retirement years he and his wife enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States.
Mr. Theodorakis was pre-deceased by his wife Irene. Survivors include his daughter Thalea and her husband Robert Hart of Branchville, NJ and his son Michael and his wife Karen Theodorakis of Monroe, NJ. Also surviving are his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Richard Messner, of The Villages, Florida, his four grandchildren Christopher and Kelly Theodorakis, Stephen and David Hart as well as his four great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday December 15, 2020 at 11:30 AM in the St. George Greek Orthodox Church #1101 River Rd. Piscataway, NJ. Friends may attend visitation in the Church one hour prior to the Service. Interment will immediately follow in the Van Liew Cemetery 585 Georges Rd. North Brunswick, NJ.
