Theodorakis, Irene C. age 82 of Eustis, Florida passed away peacefully Tuesday October 27, 2020 at the South Cambridge Hospice Leesburg, FL following a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis and Breast Cancer. Born in Framingham, MA, she grew up in Somerville, NJ and had lived many years in Bridgewater, NJ. Following retirement Irene enjoyed living in the Florida Keys until settling into Eustis, FL.
Daughter of the late Panayotis (Peter) and Mersina (Mary) Courtelis, Irene was a graduate of the Somerville High School class of 1955. A devout parishioner of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway, NJ.
Irene was very talented crafter. She enjoyed knitting, crochet, quilting, and painting. Throughout her retirement years she and her husband enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States.
Mrs. Theodorakis was pre-deceased by two brothers Emanuel “Mike” and Harilaos “Harry” Courtelis. Survivors include her beloved husband of sixty-one years Mike Theodorakis, her daughters, Thalea and her husband Robert Hart of Branchville, NJ and her son Michael and his wife Karen Theodorakis of Monroe, NJ. Also surviving are her brother Themistocles “Sam” Courtelis of Allentown, PA, her four grandchildren Christopher and Kelly Theodorakis, Stephen and David Hart as well as her four great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday November 2, 2020 at 10:30 AM in the St. George Greek Orthodox Church #1101 River Rd. Piscataway, NJ. Friends may attend visitation in the Church one hour prior to the Mass. Interment will immediately follow in the Van Liew Cemetery 585 Georges Rd. North Brunswick, NJ.
