Swofford, Philip Brian
Swofford, Philip Brian age 64 of Hampton Twp., NJ passed away unexpectedly Sunday June 9, 2019 at the Newton Medical Center. He was born in Ellerbe, NC. He grew up in Matthews, NC and has resided in Hampton Township, NJ since 1984.
Following High School, Philip proudly served in the United States Army. Philip Swofford had a long and satisfying career as a computer programmer with Selective Insurance Co. in Branchville, NJ until his retirement. Phil was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He was a true outdoorsman, enjoying skiing, biking, hiking, fishing and many other activities with his family. A self-sufficient handyman and innovative thinker, Philip loved taking care of his home and property and coming up with useful ideas and solutions.
Mr. Swofford was predeceased in life by his mother Wilma (nee Dale) Swofford in 1998 and a brother James Swofford in 2015. Survivors include his beloved wife of thirty eight years Christine (nee Krogstad) Swofford, his son Brian Swofford (married to Jenny Swofford) and his daughter Laura Swofford. Also surviving are his father, Clyde Swofford, his granddaughter Skylar Swofford, his step granddaughter, Simone O’Drain, his sisters Katie Carroll (married to Bill Carroll) and Marilyn Swofford and his half-sister, Edel Müller (married to Klaus Müller).
Memorial visitation will be held Saturday June 22, 2019 from 2:30 to 3:30 immediately followed by Memorial Services at 3:30 all in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main Street (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ.
