Sudylo, Andrew Joseph “Andy” age 77 of Phillipsburg, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Saturday evening Feb. 20, 2021 following a long illness. Born in Podborze, Poland, he came to the United States as a young man and lived in Irvington, NJ. Andrew had also lived in Ogdensburg and Jersey City before retiring to Phillipsburg, NJ.
Son of the late Walter and Jozefa (nee Rzegocka) Sudylo, Andy graduated West Side High School, Newark, NJ and had proudly served two tours of duty in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was an E-4 Sargent serving as an airplane mechanic. Following the military, Mr. Sudylo worked as a diesel mechanic for Clinton Milk Co. Newark, NJ for many years before starting his own company, Andy’s Marble and Granite in Jersey City, NJ. He enjoyed running his successful company for over twenty-four years before his retirement.
A loving, kind and loyal, wise guy, Andrew was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to many. An all-American Soccer player, he had played with the Polish Falcons of Somerville, NJ, frequently playing at Weequahic Park.
Mr. Sudylo was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Songile. He is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-three years Julia Sudylo, his daughters Dorothy and her husband Robert Korfmann of Dingmans Ferry, PA, Carolyn Sudylo of Milford, PA and Michele and her husband Joseph Varro of Morristown, NJ. Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren R.J., Haley, Christopher, Andrew, Victoria and Anneliese, his sister Irene and her husband Frederick Finnan, his brother-in-law Keith Songile as well as his many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday February 27, 2021 at 10 AM in the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church #48 Tranquility Rd., Andover, NJ. Entombment will immediately follow in the Church Cemetery. A celebration of Andy’s life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Ennoble Care Hospice, www.ennoblecare.com.
