Stano, Arline Rita
Stano, Arline “Rita” age 81 of Stillwater Twp., NJ died Tuesday July 16th, 2013 at the Andover Nursing Home following a long illness. Born in Bayonne, she grew up and had lived there many years. Rita had also lived in New Brunswick before moving to Stillwater Twp. twenty one years ago.
Daughter of the late Zigmund and Clara (Ludwig) Zielinski, she was a graduate of the Bayonne High School. She later served in the US Coast Guard as a Chief Petty Officer during the Korean War. A professionally trained Opera Singer, Rita performed in many Operas in the Bayonne area. She loved singing and sung right up to her last days. A loving and devoted homemaker she enjoyed spending time with her family most of all.
A former parishioner of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church New Brunswick she had also attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Swartswood and St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church Newton.
Rita was pre deceased by her Aunt Cecila in 1984. Survivors include her husband John James of Albrightsville, PA, her sons John Jr. of Blakeslee, PA and Matthew of Manlius, NY, her daughters Karen Luckey of Stillwater Twp, Marian Cohen of East Brunswick, and Jeanne Dieckman of Milford, PA. She is also survived by her thirteen beloved grandchildren and her four cherished great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday July 24, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church Newton, NJ. Interment in the family plot in Piscataway, NJ will be held at the convenience of the family.
Visitation will be held Tuesday July 23rd from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Iliff Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main Street, Newton, N.J.
