Smith, Marie C.
Marie C. (Crawn) Smith age 86 of Newton died Sunday May 12th, 2013 at Barnhill Care Center in Newton, NJ. Daughter of the late Herman L. Crawn and Laura Fritts, Marie was born in Newton, NJ and has resided here her entire life.
Mrs. Smith worked as a school custodian for the Newton Board of Education, retiring in 1991. Marie was a member of Andover Presbyterian Church as well as a member of the American Legion Post 132 Ladies Auxillary of Newton and Franklin.
Predeceased by her husband Nicholas Smith Jr. in 1992, Marie is survived by her son, Lance F. Smith and his wife Carole A. Smith of Newton.Funeral services will be held Thursday May 16, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main Street (Route 206) Newton, NJ. Interment will follow in the old Newton Baptist Cemetery of Newton, NJ. Visitation will be held Wednesday May 15, 2013 at the Funeral Home from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM with a 7:30 PM American Legion Ladies Auxillary Service.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Compassionate Care Hospice 350 Sparta Avenue, Building B/Suite 2, Sparta, NJ 07871 or the American Legion Post 132 Ladies Auxillary of Newton and Franklin 1 Legion Place, Franklin, NJ 07416.
