Schouppe, Jacob H. age 83 of Stanhope, NJ passed away peacefully at his home Monday May 9, 2022 following a long illness. Born and raised in East Stroudsburg, PA Jacob had also lived in Branchville before settling into his home in Stanhope over fifty years ago.
Son of the late Charles W. and Dorothy (nee Gower) Schouppe, Jake had proudly served in the United States Army from 1956 until 1960. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, Jacob was very active with his kids when they were younger, serving as a little league and soccer coach for many years in Stanhope. He was also very active in the Indian Guides as well as the Boy Scouts as a troop leader where he enjoyed running the Explorer Scouts program for many years.
Mr. Schouppe was a talented wood worker and gardener who enjoyed home improvement projects and tinkering. Mr. Schouppe was a hard working man, retiring recently and only due to health issues, he had been working as a fabricator with Airside Sheet Metal of Andover, NJ. Affectionately known as “Jake the snake”, he was a loyal NY Giants fan with a great sense of humor and the ability to make friends easily. Always the life of a party, Jacob will be missed by his family, friends and anyone who knew him.
Mr. Schouppe was predeceased by his brothers Howard, Charles and George Schouppe, his sisters April, Malvine and Blanch Schouppe, a son Timothy Wall in 2009 as well as a grandson Wade Schouppe in 2001. Jacob is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-six years Kathryn E. (nee Wall), his son Keith A. and his wife Cindy Schouppe of Newton, his sisters Della Schouppe, Robin Wall and Margaret Shafer as well as his cherished grandchildren Colton J. Schouppe of Williston VT and Melanie P. Schouppe at home.
Memorial graveside funeral services with honors will be held Saturday May 21, 2022 at 3 PM in the Northern New Jersey Veterans Cemetery #75 North Church Road (Rt. 94) Sparta, NJ 07871. Following the Cemetery everyone is invited to a celebration of Jacob’s life at Keith Schouppe’s home in Newton beginning at 4:30 PM.
