Robinson, Janina Gorecka age 98 of Newton formerly of Harrington Park, died Friday July 6, 2012 peacefully at Bristol Glen, Newton, NJ. Born and raised in Rochester, NY she had lived many years in Westwood and Harrington Park, NJ before moving to Newton five years ago.

Daughter of the late Frank and Agnes (Moskal) Gorecki, Janina was a graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School, Rochester, NY class of 1932. She later graduated from the Eastman School of Music also in Rochester as well as the Julliard School of Music New York, NY. Mrs. Robinson began her performance career at age 14 which continued throughout her lifetime. She was a Concert Violinist and had performed with the American Ballet Co, the Metropolitan Opera, and various Broadway Shows as well as with the ABC Radio Orchestra.

During WWII Janina traveled and performed with the USO in D’Artega’s 20 piece all women orchestra entertaining the troops coast to coast. Later, she taught violin privately at various schools and at home. For over forty years, Janina performed and served as Concert Master for the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and for over twenty years she served as Concert Master for the Adelphi Chamber Orchestra.

Mrs. Robinson traveled and performed with many Major Symphony Orchestras across North America. A true artist and professional musician, her passion for music remained strong throughout her life as she enjoyed performing at Bristol Glen right to present.Janina was a longtime member of the Westwood Methodist Church.

She was predeceased by her brother Frank Gorecki.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband John F. Robinson, her beloved sons Warren and his wife Janet of Syracuse, NY, John “Jack” and his wife Barbara of Sparta, and Lawrence and his wife Leslie of Saugerties, NY. Also surviving are her loving sister Julia Kaleta of Webster, NY as well as her seven cherished grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday August 4, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Bristol Glen Chapel #200 Bristol Glen Drive Newton, NJ. Arrangements are under the direction of the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ.
