Reinbott, John Thomas Sr.
Reinbott, John Thomas Sr. age 93 of Wantage Twp., NJ passed away Sunday October 24, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born June 13, 1928 to John and Margaret Reinbott, John grew up and had lived in Irvington, NJ for many years before moving to Byram Twp. in 1976.
Mr. Reinbott had proudly served in the United States Army before marrying Dorothy (nee Fernicola) of Newark, NJ in February 1958. They enjoyed many years together before her untimely death on May 28, 1992. John served as a Police Officer in Irvington, NJ for thirty years before his retirement in 1983 achieving the rank of Detective.
During his many happy years in Byram Twp., John had served as a Councilman and Mayor in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. In October 1996 John married Teresa Yanas enjoying many happy years together until her death in January 2021. John was a member of the Saint Michaels Knights of Columbus Council 3665 Netcong as well as a fifty years member of Loyola House Retreats.
Mr. Reinbott was predeceased by his brother William Reinbott. He is survived by his sons John Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Wantage Twp., and Mark and his wife Kristin of Lafayette Twp. Also surviving are his grandson John Dietrich Reinbott “JD” of Key Largo, FL, Patrick Reinbott and his girlfriend Justice of Wantage Twp., his granddaughter Madison Reinbott of Wantage Twp., as well as his sister-in-law Grace Reinbott, his niece Denice and his nephews William, Richard and Keith Reinbott.
Visitation will be held Wednesday Oct. 27, 2021 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home 156 Main St. Rt. 206 Newton, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday Oct. 28, 2021 at 11 AM in the Saint Michaels RC Church #4 Church St. Netcong, NJ 07857. Private cremation services will follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials in John’s memory be made to either the Wantage First Aid Squad or the Colesville or Beemerville Fire Departments.
