Ramos, John age 91 of Franklin, NJ passed away peacefully Tuesday September 17, 2019 at the Valley View Care Center Newton, NJ. Born in Central Falls, RI, John grew up in Cumberland, RI. He had lived many years in East Orange, NJ retiring to Ocala, FL. Mr. Ramos moved to Sparta in 2008 and recently moved to Franklin.
Son of the late Jose and Maria (nee Vaz) Ramos, John proudly served in the United States Army from 1946 until 1957. He had worked many years as a Truck Driver, Retiring from Schneider International out of Port Newark, NJ. A talented artist and handyman, John mostly enjoyed spending time with his loving family. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Ramos was pre deceased by his beloved wife Mary (nee McCarthy) in 2006, a son Joseph Ramos in 2018, a grandson John Gerulski in 1999 as well as eight siblings. Survivors include his daughters Ellen Ramos Rochedieu of Franklin, NJ and Maryann Ramos LaForte of Bloomfield, NJ, his sons Michael Grippi of Pearl River, NY, Oliver Ramos of Hamburg, NJ and John “Jerry” Ramos of Hillsborough, NJ. Also surviving are his brother Freddy Ramos of Seekonk, MA as well as his eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday September 28, 2019 from 1-2 PM with Memorial Services and Military Honors at 2 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ.
