Quick, Alice J. age 97 of Newton died peacefully with her loving family by her side Monday January 6, 2014 at the Bristol Glen Harris Hall Heath Care Center Newton, NJ. Born in Branchville, she has resided in Newton most of her life.

Daughter of the late Sydney and Eva Mae (Cosner) Webster, Alice was a 1934 graduate of the Newton High School. She was also a 1937 graduate of the Mountainside School of Nursing class of 1937, subsequently becoming employed at the school. In 1942 Alice proudly joined the United States Army and served much of her four years overseas and near the front lines as an Army Nurse.

She was a long time active member and Deacon with the First Presbyterian Church as well as the Eastern Star Melchior Chapter 131. Mrs. Quick was also a retired member of the American Legion Newton, NJ, the Enterprise Grange, the Citizens Group of Newton as well as former member of the Newton Board of Health and the Newton Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Alice and her late husband Denton J. Quick (Former Sussex County Freeholder-Director) will always be remembered for their tireless efforts around the Holidays, from the Santa Clause bus rides around the county to all the performances of the Christmas Plays.

Pre-deceased by her beloved husband Denton J. Quick in 1969, Alice is survived by her sons Denton J. and his wife Barbara Quick, Richard J. and his wife Karen Quick all of PA, her daughters Linda J. and her husband Jerry Heater of Branchville and Gail J. and her husband Ronald Hoffman of Newton. Also surviving are her grandchildren Terry D. and his wife Toni Heater, David M. Heater, Perrin and her husband Stephen Zera, Rebecca and her husband Daniel Wantman, Denton E. and his wife Jennifer Quick, Scott and his wife Maggie Hoffman, Stephanie Hoffman, Lauren Quick and Conner Quick, her great grandchildren Thomas Heater, Rachel and her husband Ubaldo Cabrera, Julianne and Tyler Heater, Allison and Lindsey Zera, Colby Wantman, Evelyn and Denton J. Quick, Blake Scott Hoffman, as well as her great great grandchildren Chloe and Gianna Cabrera.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday January 11, 2014 at 11 AM in the First Presbyterian Church of Newton #54 High St. Newton, NJ. Graveside services will immediately follow in the Newton Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday January 10th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Iliff Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main Street, Newton, N.J as well as in the Church Saturday morning from 9 to 10:45AM prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers memorials in Alice’s memory may be made to either Bristol Glen #200 Bristol Dr. Newton, NJ or the First Presbyterian Church of Newton.
