Powers, Dion P. age 50 of Andover Borough, NJ died Tuesday November 15th, 2011 at the Newton Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Born in Newton, NJ he has resided in Andover all of his life.
A 1979 graduate of the Newton High School, Dion had worked many years as a Baker and a Machine Operator in the area. Dion was an avid fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors especially hiking and camping. He also enjoyed baking; loved playing his guitar for family and friends, making people laugh and reading poetry. Dion will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Pre deceased by his mother Nancy (Schick) Powers in 2004; Dion is survived by his father Stephen Powers Sr. of Andover, his son Brendon Miller of Newton, his sisters Kelly Day of Newton, Theresa Gage of Byram Twp.; his brothers Shawn of Andover, Randal of Milford, PA and Stephen Jr. of Cresco, PA. Mr. Powers is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday November 18th, 2011 at 6:00 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday afternoon from 4 to 6 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials in Dion’s name may be made to the Compassionate Care Hospice #350 Sparta Ave. Sparta, NJ 07871.
