Powell, Gale S. age 62 of Fredon Twp, NJ died peacefully with her loving family at her side at her home Thursday October 10, 2013. Born in Morristown, NJ she grew up and had lived many years in Morris Plains before moving to Fredon Twp. in 1995.

Daughter of the late Clifford and Evelyn (nee VanArsdale) King, Gale was a graduate of the Morristown High School class of 1969. She was later graduated from the Boston University receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Gale also earned her Masters and her PhD in Education from William Paterson University. Ms. Powell’s true passion was her career as a Special Education Teacher for twenty eight years and as a fifth grade teacher for 8 years. She retired from the Jefferson Township Board of Education after her long and satisfying tenure in 2006.

Gale was a dedicated animal lover who was a well known breeder of Yorkshire Terriers and Cockapoo’s. A former Rainbow Girl, Gale was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her cherished grandchildren, family and friends. In recent times, she was very appreciative of all the visits, condolences and well wishes by family and friends.

Ms. Powell was pre deceased by her longtime love William Stanton in 2012 as well as her brother James King. Survivors include her loving daughter Lindy Dawn and her husband Tom Rezza of Green Twp., her cherished grandchildren Alyssandra and Dylan Rezza as well as her beloved pet Yorkshire Terrier Georgia Girl, whom was by her side right until she passed away.

Visitation will be held Sunday October 13th, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-8:30 PM immediately followed by 8:30 PM Funeral Services in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral home 156 Main St (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ 07860. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society www.humanesociety.org
