Phillips, Wayne N. age 84 of the Paulinskill Lake section of Stillwater Twp. passed away Tuesday June 5, 2018 at the Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice Fredon Twp., NJ, following a brief illness.

Born and raised in Newton, NJ Wayne has been a lifelong resident.

Son of the late George and Frances (nee Nixon) Phillips, Wayne was a graduate of the Newton High School class of 1952. He later graduated from Lafayette College earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Mr. Phillips had a long career as Professional Planner and Land Surveyor. He was the Owner of Wayne Phillips and Associates of Newton, NJ.

A professional Plectrum Banjo player, he performed throughout the region at many of the premier clubs. He was a talented craftsman in the building and restoration of Banjo’s. An avid model railroader, he was also a loyal NY Yankee fan, who enjoyed crossword and word games.

Mr. Phillips was predeceased by his wife Luella (nee Field) Phillips in 2009 as well as his Aunt and Uncle Irene and Layton Northrup. Survivors include his loving companion Avis Bliss, her children Hilary Bliss and her companion Michal Gourdin, E. Parker Jr. and his wife June Bliss, Perrin and her husband Guy Masi as well as her five grandchildren. Also surviving are Wayne’s beloved dogs Cody and Molly.

Private arrangements are under the direction of Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral home in Newton, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorials in Wayne’s memory may be made to the Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice www.karenannquinlanhospice.org.
