Paxton, Theodore W.
Paxton, Theodore W. age 91 of Stanhope, NJ passed away peacefully Wednesday evening December 5, 2018 at the Newton Medical Center. Born in Montclair, NJ Theodore grew up in Bloomfield, NJ and had lived many years in Valley Cottage, NY and Stillwater, NJ before moving to Stanhope in 2016.
Son of the late Theodore R. and Adele (nee Hosbach) Paxton, Theodore enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Following the War, he had a long career with the US Postal Service in Monsey, NY and later enjoyed working as a chauffeur. Mr. Paxton served for many years as a Fireman with the Valley Cottage NY Volunteer Fire Dept. He was also a member of the Newton VFW Post #5360 as well as the American Legion Post 278. An active member of the Stanhope Senior Citizens he was also a Champion Scrabble player in addition to his passion for playing bingo and painting.
Theodore was pre deceased by his brother Raymond Paxton Nov. 24th 2018. He is survived in life by his beloved wife of thirty years Lorraine T. (nee Lounsberry) Paxton, his daughters Robin Mansfield of Caldwell, NJ, Maria and her husband Steve Choppy of Stanhope, Andrea and her husband Eric Gullion of Stroudsburg, PA and his son Theodore Paxton of New York. Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren Catherine and Elizabeth Choppy and Alexander and Madeline Kash as well as his many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday evening December 8, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-8 PM immediately followed by Funeral Services at 8 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home 156 Main St (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ.
