O’Toole, Michael R. age 74 of Frelinghuysen Twp., NJ passed away Wednesday May 25, 2022, peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home following a brief illness. Born in Orange, NJ, Mike grew up in West Caldwell and had lived for ten years in Mine Hill before moving to Frelinghuysen Twp. in 1987.
Son of the late Richard and Juanita (nee Rickards) O’Toole, Mike was a graduate of West Caldwell High School class of 1966. He later went on to earn his Bachelors Degree from William Paterson College. Michael had proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Mr. O’Toole had worked many years as a Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service as well as working many years with Picatinny Arsenal until retiring as a Contract Procurement Specialist.
A loving and devoted husband and father, Mike had served as a Blairstown Little League Coach for many years. He was an avid golfer and trapper as well as a member of the Picatinny Rod and Gun Club. When living in Mine Hill, Mike served as a Volunteer with the Mine Hill First Aid Squad.
Mr. O’Toole was predeceased by his brothers Ronald and Barry O’Toole. He is survived by his beloved wife of forty-nine years Gena (nee Docherty), his loving sons Stephen and his wife Jean O’Toole of Oak Ridge, and Nicholas O’Toole of Green Twp. Also surviving are his sister Diane and her husband Bob Bruley of Louisiana as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday May 31, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main Street (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ 07860. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday morning June 1, 2022 at 10 AM in the Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church #24 Halstead Street Newton, NJ. Interment in the Brigadier General William C.
