Mooney, Douglas E. age 53 of Andover Borough died unexpectedly Sunday November 13th, 2011 in the Morristown Memorial Hospital following injuries sustained in an accident. Born in Newton, NJ he has been an Andover Borough resident all his life.
A 1976 graduate of the Newton High School, Douglas was working as a Supervisor for JCP&L of Morristown, NJ. An Andover Borough Councilman, Douglas was a loving and devoted family man who loved the outdoors. An avid golfer, Mr. Mooney was an active member of the Golf Mission Association, and recently scored a “Hole in one” at the Blair Academy Golf course in Blairstown, NJ. A Past member of the Andover Borough Fire Dept.; Douglas also enjoyed skiing and any new technology or device he could obtain.
Mr. Mooney was pre deceased by his maternal grandmother Mildred Mayberry-Smith, his paternal grandparents Walter and Helen Mooney as well as two brothers John L. Mooney and Harry S. Kinney. Survivors include his Fiancé Donna Hall, his daughters Kellen and Hayley Mooney, Donnas’ children Brittany, Caitlin, Michael and Sean Hall all of Andover, His father Robert and Stepmother Cathy Mooney of Andover, his Mother Norma J. Mooney of Andover, his brothers Robert C. Mooney Jr. of NY, NY, Ken A. Mooney of Andover, Step brother Douglas Kinney of White Haven, PA, his sisters Jennifer and her husband Alex Barrera of Andover, and Roni and her husband Mike Fernandez of Long Valley, NJ. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews Michael and Matthew Mooney of Green Twp., Dominick and Catherine Fernandez of Long Valley and Erica and Tyler Kinney of Frankford Twp., NJ.
Funeral services will be held Friday November 18th, 2011 at 12:00 Noon in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday November 17th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM as well as Friday morning from 10:00 AM until Noon. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org.
