Laterza, Josephine “Josie Jay” of Frankford Twp., NJ died peacefully Tuesday May 20, 2014 at the Homestead Rehabilitation and Health Care Center Frankford Twp., NJ. Born August 26, 1934 in Bellville, NJ she had lived there many years before becoming a SCARC Group Home resident in Branchville, NJ.
Daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Martucci) Laterza, Josephine was a loving caring woman who enjoyed traveling with her mother and friends at SCARC. She was an active resident who enjoyed arts & crafts and knitting and especially singing. She had a good sense of humor and loved to laugh.
Survivors include her sisters Carolyn L. Hoffman of Houston, TX and Frances D. and her husband Edwin VanOrden of Corpus Christi, TX, her three nieces and one nephew as well as her dear friend Jane Hasenbalg. The family would like to send their most heartfelt thanks to the SCARC organization for helping to give Josephine a very high quality of life.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday May 23, 2014 from the St. Joseph RC Church Halstead Street Newton, NJ at 1:00 PM. Burial will immediately follow in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery Newton. Visitation will be held Friday morning from 10:30AM to 12:30 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main Street (Rt.206) Newton, NJ.
