Kays, Lanny D. Sr
Kays, Lanny D. Sr. age 71 of Newton passed away Wednesday March 22, 2017 at the Newton Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Newton, he was a lifelong resident.
Son of the late Linus and Mabel (Snyder) Kays, Lanny had worked many years with Waste Management as a truck driver until his retirement in 2016. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, he was long time member of the Newton Moose Lodge #432 as well as being part of their softball team. An ardent sports fan, he was fond of the NY Mets, NJ Devils and the San Francisco 49ers.
Mr. Kays was predeceased by his beloved wife Betty-Ann (Sliker) Kays just this past March 9th as well as his two sisters and brother. Survivors include his daughters Mary and her husband Jerry Reiman of Sussex, Dawn and her husband James Cuneo of Dingmans Ferry, PA, Jeannie and her husband David Van Auken of Newton, Betty-Jo Sliker of Newton, Heather Kays of Newton, Michele Critchlaw of Newton and Billie-Jo Kays of Passaic and his son Lanny D. Kays Jr. and his wife Christine Kays of Dingmans Ferry, PA. Also surviving are his fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Memorial visitation will be held Monday March 27, 2017 from 6-9 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ.
