
Kaplan, Judith Lee
Kaplan, Judy age 77 formerly of Layton, NJ passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Friday March 31, 2017 at Cedar Crest in Pompton Plains, NJ.
Born in Glen Ridge, she grew up in Bloomfield and had lived for many years in Montville Twp. and Layton, NJ. Daughter of the late Joseph and Roberta (Yasen) Slifkin, Judy had worked for over 33 years as a Teacher and Speech Pathologist with the Clifton Board of Education before retiring in 1994. Her many passions included reading, crocheting and most notably spending time with her family and friends at their “Country House” on the Delaware River.
In addition to being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin, Judy also enjoyed gardening. She was a member of the Master Gardeners Association and was active with both the Sussex County Farm and Horse Show and the Sussex County Historical group.
Judy was pre deceased by her beloved husband George in 2014. She is survived by her loving sons Josh, and his wife Leah of White Plains, NY, and Andrew, and wife Tisha of Mays Landing, NJ. Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren, Jackie and Alex Kaplan as well as her sister Dorothy Ann and husband, Shelly Altwarg formerly of Montclair, NJ.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home and services will be held at the Cedar Crest Chapel in Pompton Plains at 930 AM on Friday, April 7, 2017. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society www.cancer.org
