
Jean MacGregor Iliff
Jean MacGregor Iliff died peacefully at home Tuesday April 6, 2010 following a long valiant battle with breast cancer. She was born May 1, 1931 in Rochester NY., daughter of Donald and Ruth Newman MacGregor educated in Irondequoit N.Y. public schools and earned her BSN in Nursing from Cornell University and New York Hospital in 1954.
She worked for many years with her husband at Iliff Funeral Home and Iliff Furniture Store. She also was employed as a RN at Andover Nursing Home, Barnhill Nursing Home, Methodist Home in Branchville and as a substitute nurse in the Newton public school system. She retired in 1996. Jean was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Newton and former memer of Irondequoit United Church of Christ. She was involved in music ministry at First United Methodist Church, serving as substitute organist, choir accompanist, choir member. She was formerly a member of University Women and Melchoir Chapter OES of Andover Township NJ.
She is survived by her husband, Fred C. Iliff Jr. of Newton, a brother, Donald MacGregor II of Rochester, NY, 4 children, Mary Ann Cioffi ( Mark) of Pembroke NH, Dr. Susan Iliff (OJ Sizemore) of Scotch Plains, NJ, William L Iliff (Denise) of McClure Ohio, Nancy Love (Steve) of Laurel MD, 5 grandchildren, SA Alexes W. Iliff U.S. Navy aboard the USS Carl Vinson, Mackenzie I. Sizemore of Scotch Plains, NJ, Jean L. Cioffi of Pembroke NH, Tristan Sizemore of Scotch Plains NJ, Taylor S. Iliff of McClure, OH, her beloved dog Baron, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Jean will be held Monday, April 12, 2010 at 11 am at the First United Methodist Church in Newton. Visitation will be held Saturday April 10 and Sunday April 11 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM at the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main Street (Route 206) Newton, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Newton FUMC Music Fund, 111 Ryerson Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860; or to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860.
