Hamm, Sadie, age 77 of Newton died Sunday September 1, 2013 peacefully at her home following a long illness. Born in Paterson, NJ she grew up and had lived many years in Franklin Lakes and Wyckoff, NJ. Sadie had also resided many years in Lake Tranquility before moving to Newton. Daughter of the late Otto and Sadie (Bleeker) DeJager, Sadie was a graduate of the Ramsey High School Class of 1953, and was later graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked many years as a Nurse for Newton Memorial Hospital, Morristown Memorial Hospital as well as the St. Clare?s Hospital Sussex Campus. One of the original founding members of the Newton Senior Citizens, Sadie was also active in the Andover, Green and Branchville Seniors.

In addition, she was a charter member of the Allamuchy and Green Township First Aid Squad. An active and long time member of the Tranquility United Methodist Church, Sadie was one of the Church Matriarchs. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was pre deceased by two sons Richard and Kenneth Wiseman as, a daughter Janice Wiseman, a sister Radie Hrina as well as a brother John DeJager. Survivors include her husband of forty-one year?s Richard J. Hamm, her sons Robert Wiseman of Newton, Stephen Wiseman of Lake Wallenpaupack, PA and Richard F. Hamm of Newton. Also surviving are her brother Peter DeJager of Alton New Hampshire, her sisters Anne Cox of Branchville and Edith Warner of Mahwah, NJ as well as her grandchildren Matthew, Delany, Kayden, Rebecca, Stephen and KC Wiseman, Melissa and Sarah Hamm as well as one great grandchild Allison Wiseman. Memorial services will be held Saturday September 7, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the Tranquility United Methodist Church Community Center #5 Kennedy Rd. Tranquility, NJ. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Iliff Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main Street, Newton, N.J. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Tranquility United Methodist Church.
