Hamm, Richard J. age 82 of Newton, NJ passed away Wednesday April 19th, 2017 at the St. Clare’s Hospital Dover Campus following a brief illness. Born in raised in Newton, he had lived there and Tranquility all of his life.
Son of the late Harold and Helen (Cutter) Hamm, Richard proudly served in the US Army National Guard from 1956 to 1960. Richard had a long career as a Truck Driver until retiring from Holland Manufacturing Succasunna, NJ. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, Richard had served on the Allamuchy/Green and Newton First Aid Squads. A long time and devout member of the Tranquility United Methodist Church, Richard was also a member of the Newton Prime Time Seniors. He had enjoyed modified dirt track racing in his younger years and traveling with his beloved wife Sadie who passed away in 2013.
Mr. Hamm was pre deceased by two sons Kenneth and Richard Wiseman, a daughter Janice Wiseman as well as his brothers Harold and Russell Hamm. Survivors include his son Richard F. of Newton, Robert Wiseman of Hackettstown, NJ and Steven Wiseman of Lake Ariel, PA, daughter Pamela Evans of Florida as well as his grandchildren Mellissa S. Bippus and Sarah Hamm.
Memorial funeral services will be held Friday May 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Tranquility United Methodist Church #5 Kennedy Rd. Tranquility, NJ 07821. Interment of cremains will immediately follow in the Tranquility Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ.
