Hambel, Gertrude May
Hambel, Gertrude May age 93 formerly of Kearny, NJ died Tuesday October 16th, 2012 at the Regency Grand Care Center Dover, NJ. Born and raised in Kearny she had lived there many years. She had also resided in Illinois and had retired to Inverness, FL.
Daughter of the late Raymond and Daisy Rush, Gertrude was a graduate of the Kearny High School class of 1937. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sibling and homemaker who enjoyed sewing.
Gertrude had worked many years as an Orthodontics Assistant in Suffern, NY. She had been a member of the Arlington Methodist Church and had served as the PTA President Kearny, NJ in the late 1950’s.
Gertrude was Pre deceased by her beloved husband Harold C. in 2006, her six siblings as well as a great granddaughter Katherine Michelle Regula.
Survivors include her son Harold Hambel of VA, her daughters Ruth LaLevee and Shirley Spooner both of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, her nine grandchildren and ten Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday October 23, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the First United Methodist Church of Newton #111 Ryerson Ave Newton, NJ.
Visitation will be held Monday October 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church Music Fund.
