Grabowski, Leo F. “Doc” age 92 died peacefully Wednesday October 14, 2015 at the Forest Manor in Frelinghuysen Twp. Born in Passaic, he lived most of his life on the Athenia and Allwood sections of Clifton. Doc had also lived and made many good friends at the Bentley Assisted living facility Branchville, before relocating to Frelinghuysen Twp. a year ago.
Son of the late Leon and Rose (Jarosz) Grabowski, Leo had proudly served in the US Army during WWII most recently being awarded the Insignia of the Chevalier of the “Legion of Honor” by the president of the French Republic. A devout parishioner of the St. Peter and Paul Polish National Church Passaic, he also served many years as an usher. Leo was also member of the Young Men’s Society of Resurrection. He was a life member of the Local #4 Bricklayers and Allied craftsmen union where he had worked until his retirement.
Pre deceased by his beloved wife Elizabeth (Fialkowsky) in 2013, Mr. Grabowski is survived by his loving children Gary and his wife Ellen of Stillwater, June and her husband Robert Petty also of Stillwater, Arlene Pepe of Lincoln Park, and Lisa and her husband Erich Melsheimer of Cumming, GA. Leo is also survived by his ten grandchildren, one great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday October 17, 2015 from 10 AM until noon; Funeral services immediately following at noon in the Iliff- Ruggiero Funeral Home 156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton, New Jersey.
