Galdi, Frances J.
Frances Doremus Galdi, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away at home peacefully on Tuesday May 1, 2012 following a long illness. Frances was born on April 13, 1929 in the Holy Name Hospital, Teaneck, NJ.
She was the daughter of George and Louise (Villa) Doremus growing up in Bogota, NJ spending many happy times there. She resided in River Vale, NJ for over thirty four years before moving to Green Township in 1989.
A 1947 Valedictorian graduate of Bogota High School, Frances went on to Katherine Gibb Secretarial School where upon graduation she worked in the Empire State Building as a secretary for McGregor Clothes Company, Mission Bell Wine, and SETWELL Hanger Company. For over thirty five years, Frances and her husband, Al owned a furniture manufacturing company called A.S. Galdi, Incorporated.
Frances enjoyed her hobby of antique cars, collecting butter pat dishes and spark plugs. A member of the Rusty Relics, the Horseless carriage club, Half Century Club, Buick Club, and the AACA.
Frances was preceded in death by her Mother in 1996, a Father in 1977, and an older brother George who died at the age of 6 years old. Her beloved daughter Renee Galdi died in 1985.
Frances is survived by her adoring husband of fifty eight years, Alfred S. Galdi, her children, Annette Tracy (Richard) of Randolph, NJ; Scott (Shelley) of Park Ridge, NJ; David (Kathleen) of Chester, NJ; Alfred G. (Christine) of Warren, NJ; her nine cherished grandchildren, Ricky Tracy III, Molly Tracy, Chelsey Galdi, Scotty Galdi, Taylor Galdi, Rachel Galdi, Alyssa Galdi, Michelle Galdi, Christian Galdi, as well as two sister-in-laws; four nieces and two nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday May 4th, 2012 at 9:30 AM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St. Newton, NJ 07860. Interment will follow in the George Washington Cemetery in Paramus, NJ.
