Falkowski, Annette Christine age 66 of the Lake Tranquility section of Green Twp., NJ passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side Wednesday March 22, 2017 in her home. Born in Hoboken, NJ, she grew up in Hudson County and had lived many years in West New York and Flanders before moving to Green Twp. in 1986.

Daughter of the late Joseph and Anne (Izzo) Picciurro, Annette earned her BA in French and Secondary Education from St. Peter’s College Jersey City, NJ. She later received her MA in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL.

Annette began her career as a High School French Teacher. Later she worked as a Counselor for Veterans with post-traumatic stress, substance abuse and mental illness. Mrs. Falkowski had also worked as a Social Worker with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sussex County, eventually finding her calling as a Social Worker for the Willowglen Academy Sparta. She immensely enjoyed working with the special needs population and their families. Upon her retirement in 2011, Annette continued her involvement with young adults with developmental disabilities through volunteering with Katie’s House as well as Hackettstown Community Hospital where her passion was attending to the patients.

An avid traveler she enjoyed going to the beach, playing boggle and hiking. In addition to spending time with her beloved husband, family and friends, she also enjoyed studying languages, watching NCIS with her nephew Scott Weichert, reading and keeping photo albums.

Survivors include her husband of forty two years and the love of her life, Glenn Falkowski, her beloved children Jolie and her husband Marwane Kassou of Odenton, MD, Daniel and his wife Sarah of Philadelphia, PA and Kelsey and his wife Jena of Vernon, NJ. Also surviving are her siblings, Sister Joanne Picciurro FSP of Elmwood Park and Dennis and his wife Linda Picciurro Parsippany.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday March 27, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church Rt. 517 Andover, NJ. Interment will immediately follow in the Church Cemetery 48 Airport Rd. Andover NJ. Memorial visitation will be held Sunday March 26, 2017 from 2-4 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorials in Annette’s memory may be made to Katie’s House PO Box 96 Newton, NJ 07860 or Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice #99 Sparta Ave Newton, NJ.
