Faas, Frederick A.
Frederick A. Faas Sr., 88, formerly of Newton, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Andover Subacute and Rehab Center surrounded by his family. Born to the late Albert and Grace (Condit-Wanger) Faas in West Orange, on April 15, 1928. Fred spent his childhood in New Jersey. Fred left school at a young age and began caddying at local golf courses to earn money.
Fred was a Navy Veteran who served during the World War II era. After his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1946 Fred began his career in Sporting Goods which included working his way up the corporate ladder with Two Guys until the company closed. Fred then worked as an international Importer and Exporter of sporting goods and spent much of his life professional time traveling throughout the Orient.
He lived in various locations throughout the U.S. including Oregon, Ohio, and North Carolina where he spent his retirement. Fred was a devoted Grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, whether it was going to their sporting events, school plays, or sneaking off to Dairy Queen for ice creams. Fred was also a very proud Great Grandfather and loved spending time with his “Missy”.
Fred is survived by his son Frederick (Rick) Faas, Jr of Dingmans Ferry Pa, son David Faas, of Winston Salem, NC, and daughter Laura Brock, of Newton, NJ; brother Thomas Faas and wife Barbara, Sister Sissy Cobb and husband Ted, brother Charles Faas and wife Sharon, brother Ronald Faas and wife Alice, sister Beverley Conway and husband Dan and sister Joyce Applegate and husband Charles; four grandchildren, Brittany Brock, Erin Feltwater, Alex Feltwater and Christian Brock and one Great Granddaughter, Nora.
Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton.
