Gerry passed away at home with his family by his side. Gerry graduated with a BA cum laude from Wagner College, 1968 and received a MBA in 1970 followed by a PhD in British history from New York University in 1973. He was a visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and New York University.

With his lifelong love of fly fishing for trout, his writing career included contributing many articles to Fly Fisherman Magazine, Fishing World, Fly Fishing the West, Flyrodder Magazine, Fly fishing, The Fly fisher, New Jersey Outdoors, Pennsylvania Angler, Virginia Wildlife.

His love of history, inspired him to write his novel, The Tenth Men and articles for Military History magazine. He expanded his writing and editing career to the medical world when he became a medical editor at Academy Professional Information Services in New York City, Health Scan, Inc., Emron, Inc. and freelanced for GlaxoWellcome, Bristol-Meyers, Pfizer, Roche Labs, and Ciba Genova.

Mr. Eastby was predeceased by his parents, Gerhard S. Eastby and Alice M. (Krogstad) Eastby. He leaves behind his wife, Clara A. (Wetzel) Eastby, his cousins and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday May 16th 2018 from 2-4 PM and 7-830 PM with Funeral Services beginning at 8:30 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St. (Rt.206) Newton, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorials in Gerry’s memory may be made to the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice www.karenannquinlanhospice.org.
