Dorothy Jean Ayers
Ayers, Dorothy Jean (Donato) age 82 of Ringwood, NJ died peacefully at her home Thursday December 17th, 2009 with her loving family by her side. Born in Plainfield, NJ she grew up in Raritan and had resided in Hillsboro before moving to Ringwood in 1967.
Daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Kratowela) Donato, Dorothy was a graduate of the Somerville High School; she was a long time parishioner of the St. Catherine of Bologna RC Church Ringwood, a member of the Church Senior Citizens Group where she served as Treasurer for many years. Mrs. Ayers was also a member of a group of merry widows who traveled the world together; she was an avid reader who loved spending time with her family. An accomplished crafter, she also enjoyed knitting, sewing and crochet.
Considered by her family to be a world class recipe collector, Dorothy was a member of the Cupsaw Lake Improvement Association, as well as a member of the 1-5 Club Ladies Group also of Cupsaw Lake. Pre deceased by her husband Allen Trevor Ayers in 1989 as well as a brother Peter Donato in 2007. Survivors include her sons Randy C. of Ringwood, and Glen A. of Leverett, Mass., her daughter Alison D. and her husband Thomas Marchese of Branchville, her brother John D. and wife Carol Donato of Belgrade Lake ME, her sister Margo and husband Ray Schneider of HI as well as her seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday December 22nd, 2009 at 10:30 AM in the St. Catherine of Bologna RC Church #112 Erskine Rd. Ringwood, NJ. Interment will follow in the Christ the King Cemetery Franklin Lakes, NJ. Visitation will be held Monday December 21st from 2-4 and 7-9 in the D’Agostino Funeral Home #881 Ringwood Ave. Haskell, NJ. Arrangements are under the direction of the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St. (Rt206) Newton, NJ.
