Don William Space
Don William Space, 65, of Newton, NJ passed away September 23, 2021 surrounded by loving his family.
Born and raised in Newton, Don was the son of the Warren and Betty Morris-Space. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brothers Douglas and Todd and sister Mildred, his five nieces and one nephew along with many caring friends. He was predeceased by his father and brother Frank.
Don was a proud submarine sailor who served his Country in the U.S. Navy. After his service, he enjoyed a long career at New Jersey Machine which took him on frequent trips across the Country, Europe and Asia. He was a life long member of the VFW Post 5360 of Newton.
Also known as “Hairy” to his friends, due to his unruly hair which matched his personality, Don was gruff and abrasive to some but had a deep and caring love for his family and friends.
An avid sports fan, he was most passionate about the New York Jets despite the agony they regularly inflicted on him.
He was extremely supportive to his mother and will be missed by many.
Memorial visitation will be held Wednesday September 29, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with a service to immediately follow at Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home (Route 206) Newton, N.J.
