Diliberto, Josephine M.
Diliberto, Josephine M. age 80 of Byram Twp., NJ passed away Thursday morning October 31, 2019 in the Newton Medical Center. Born in Hoboken, NJ she grew up in Port Morris, NJ moving to Byram Twp. in 1974.
Daughter of the late Luigi and Carmella (nee Idavia) Ruggieri, Josephine met her future husband the late Frank J. Diliberto Sr. in 1959. They were pen pals for six months, meeting for the first time and immediately falling in love. Two weeks later they were married and enjoyed every minute of their fifty six years together until his passing in 2016.
A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Josephine loved cooking and entertaining for the Holidays. She was an avid crafter and enjoyed crochet. She was a proud member of the Soldiers Angels Foundation, where she earned several awards for her dedication. Josephine was also a past member of the Byram Twp. Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary as well as a member of the USAF Family Services Dept.
Josephine was also pre deceased in life sisters Palma McConnell, Lena Chuddley and Julia Truitt as well as her brother Joseph Ruggieri. Survivors include her son Frank J. Jr. of Byram Twp. her daughters Diana L. Blume of Milford, PA and Laura A. and her husband Ron Surman of Medford, NJ. Also surviving are her grandchildren Matthew, Brittany and Jessica Lane, Marjorie, Grace, Abbygail and Buddy Williams and Frank J. III and Anthony Diliberto, as well as her sister Theresa McConnell of Sciota, PA.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday November 5, 2019 at 10 AM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ. Interment will follow in the Stanhope Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the Funeral Home Monday November 4, 2019 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials in Josephine’s memory may be made to the www.nrnetwork.org
