DiDonato, Karen K. age 83 of Swartswood died Friday November 9, 2012. Born in Brooklyn, NY August 1929 when her parents emigrated here from Norway. During the depression, Karen and her family returned to Norway where they stayed until the end of WWII. Upon returning to the United States she resided in Brooklyn and in 1957 relocated to Swartswood where she had lived for many years.

Daughter of the late Oscar and Anna (Andersen) Knutsen, Karen had worked many years as a seamstress for the Newton Garment Co. and Morley’s Shirt Factory until her retirement. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sibling, Karen loved time with her family and will always be remembered for her altruistic generosity. A long time member of the Newton Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she was dedicated to her faith.

Mrs. DiDonato was pre deceased by her husband in 1999 as well as five sisters.

Survivors include her children Robert and his wife Thelma of Milford, PA, Joe and his wife Linda of Milford, PA and Debby and her husband David Sorrick of Lemoore, CA.

Also surviving are her grandson Jonathan DiDonato, her great granddaughter Jillian both of Milford, PA as well as her sisters Gerd Raynie of Brooklyn, NY and Astrid Lunde of Tynes, Norway. Karen is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held Monday November 12th, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home 156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ. Memorial services will be held Saturday November 17th, 2012 at 7 PM in the Newton Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses- 65 Lawrence Rd. Lafayette, NJ 07848.
