Delmont, Walter Peter age 66 of Lafayette Twp., NJ passed away Wednesday August 23, 2017 at the Kindred Care Hospital following a brief illness and post-surgical complications. Born and raised in Franklin, he was a long time resident of Lafayette Twp.

Son of the late Peter and Vivian (Northrop) Delmont, Walter attended Franklin High School. He had a long career as a Truck Driver and Heavy Equipment Operator. A true racing enthusiast, Walter had raced Stock, Micro Stock and Mini Cup race cars for many years at Middletown, Pine Brook and throughout Pennsylvania. A lifelong fan of NASCAR and Formula One, Walter was also a loyal Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan.

In addition to auto racing, Walter was a talented mechanic and enjoyed classic car restoration. He was a regular at car shows and cruise nights with the Ford Anglia. Walter also enjoyed meeting his friends daily at the Millside Café Lafayette. Mr. Delmont will truly be missed by his family, friends as well as all his cherished cats Peaches and Mango.

Walter was predeceased in life by his sisters Carol Louise and her husband Thomas Hiney and Sharon Kays. Survivors include his wife and best friend of forty five years Christine M. Yucius Delmont, his brother Victor and his wife Beverly Delmont, his sisters Dorthea Bernal, Colleen Delmont and Christina McCarrick as well as his many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Walter’s life will be held Sept. 10, 2017 at the Franklin Fire House #137 Buckwheat Rd. Franklin, NJ 07416 from 1 to 4 PM.
