Carrigan, Josef
Carrigan, Josef Carl age 67 of Newton, NJ died peacefully Sunday November 3, 2013 at home. Born and raised by his grandmother Rosina Hebrank in Steyer Austria, Josef came to the United States in 1962 and had lived in Las Cruces New Mexico. He later lived many years in Dale City Virginia before moving to Newton several years ago.
Son of the late Theresia Hebrank and his adoptive father Roy Carrigan, Josef was a graduate of the Las Cruces High School class of 1963 and was later graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1972 receiving his degree in Mathematics and History. Mr. Carrigan served as a Staff Sgt. in the United States Air Force two tours of duty during the Vietnam War from 1965 until 1972. After the war he worked as a Union Electrician for the Washington Post Newspaper in Washington DC for many years until his retirement.
An ardent Dallas Cowboys fan, Josef also enjoyed soccer, reading and building Doll Houses for his grandchildren whom he adored. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, Josef will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Pre deceased by his parents as well as his Aunts Anna and Rosa Hebrank, survivors include his beloved wife of forty-seven years Mary Ellen (nee Lynn) Carrigan, his son Joseph and his wife Laurie Carrigan of Bristow, VA, his daughter Marion Carrigan of Newton, his brothers Roy Carrigan of Killeen, TX and Daniel Carrigan of San Antonio, TX, his sisters Peggy Carrigan of Oklahoma City, OK and Karin Carrigan of Lawton, OK. Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren Theresia, Alex, Maryellen, Brian and Harrison, his great granddaughter Virginia as well as his cousin Helmut Hebrank of Austria.
