Carol B. Miller died peacefully on July 9th, 2022 at Bristol Glen in Newton, NJ. Born on January 20th, 1933 in Washington, NJ, the daughter of Russell and Bernice Beam. She grew up on the same street as her grandmother and great grandmother. She graduated from Washington High School in 1950, where she met the love of her life, Reverend Charles William Miller Jr. They were married in 1951 and together raised seven children. They were married for 66 years until Charles’ passing in 2018. She received her bachelor of arts in education from William Paterson College and taught in the Roxbury NJ school system for over 30 years, earning a Teacher of the Year award in 1993.

Carol was an incredibly kind, warm, generous, and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a tireless and vital partner in ministry with her spouse in all of the congregations they served from 1955-1995, including Port Murray, Buttzville, Flanders, Blairstown, Towaco, Union Village, and Plainfield N.J. From 1973-1979. Carol also spent many summers at Aldersgate Center in Swartswood N.J. as a counselor and “Mom” to many of the staff of the camp. Carol and Chuck retired to Mount Bethel in 1995, attended Knowlton UMC, and spent most summers at their cherished lake house in South Fallsburg, NY.

Carol loved working with young people, particularly those with special needs. She was a dedicated singer in the choir and ringer in the bell choir in many congregations over the years. Being with family- whether at special celebrations, or on vacations at various destinations or camping in Martha’s Vineyard or at the lake house at Pleasure Lake- was a highlight of her life. Carol loved doing crossword puzzles over coffee with Chuck, enjoying all of their dogs, gardening, cross-stitch, quilting, sewing, reading, and bird-watching. Carol was an excellent cook and made chocolate birthday cakes, honey bread, and homemade pizza often to the delight of her children. She was famous for not being able to tell a joke, yet possessing a wonderful sense of humor, laughing often with family and friends.

Carol is pre-deceased by her husband Charles, her sister and brother-in-law Merle & Jack Finston, and her daughter Mary Beth. She is survived by her children Vicki (Larry) Brendler, Charles III (Carrie) Miller, Dan Miller, Mark (Mike Murden) Miller, Susan (Nils Van Liew) Miller, Sung Joe (Sophia Wong) Kang, grandchildren Sarah (Kurt) Kinzel, Rebecca (Ryan) Bleck, Rachel (Bill) Melick, Jessica Brendler, Jennifer Kang, Ashley (Michael) Snyder, Nikki Miller, Maddie (Craig) Gares, Lexie Miller, Alyse Miller-Murden, Keith Miller-Murden and great-grandchildren (Eli, Nate, Kristie, Alyssa, Beth Ann, Dylan and Jesse,). She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
