Carlin, Edward age 91 of Ocean View, NJ formerly of Franklin, NJ passed away Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the Shore Medical Center in Sommers Point, NJ following a brief illness. Born and raised in Franklin, Edward lived in Hampton Township for most of his life before retiring to Florida and later Ocean City, NJ.
Son of the late Angelo and Mary (nee O’Patick) Carlin, Edward was a graduate of Franklin High School, and later served in the National Guard. He had a long career with the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation as a Traffic Light Technician of the Byram Twp. Division.
An avid woodworker and wood carver, Edward also enjoyed fishing, crabbing, gardening, and playing golf. Mr. Carlin was predeceased by a brother David Carlin and recently his son-in-law Ted Ehrenburg. Survivors include his beloved wife of sixty-nine years Claire (nee Peragino), his daughters Regina Ehrenburg and Theresa Boylan; her husband Edward Boylan and his sister Mamie Kistle. Also surviving are his grandchildren Kate Brady, Mark Ehrenburg, Sean and Nikki Boylan as well as his many great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 8, 2021 from 2-4 PM in the Iliff-Ruggerio Funeral Home #156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ 07860. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 10 AM in the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church #24 Halsted St. Newton, NJ. Entombment will follow in the Church Cemetery Mausoleum.
