Camp, Richard A. age 75 of Newton died peacefully with his loving family by his side Wednesday June 4th, 2014 in Hampton Twp., NJ. Born and raised in Elyria, Ohio, Richard has resided in Newton for many years.

Son of the late William B. and Sephronia “Toni” nee Stevens Camp, Richard was a graduate of the Elyria High School, Ohio class of 1956. He proudly served from 1957 to 1960 in the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal E3 aboard the USS Ranger and in Camp Pendleton, CA. Following his service, he was also a member of the USMC Ranger Seagoing Marines.

Richard began his career as the Circulation District Manager for the Elyria Chronicle Telegram from 1962 to 1973. From 1974 to 1982 he was the Circulation Director for the New Jersey Herald and from 1982 to 1985 with the Daily Advance of Roxbury, NJ. Mr. Camp had also worked as a Real Estate Agent with Marquis Webster Century 21 from 1985 to 1987. He was the owner of General Broadside, Smokey Gazette and the Shoe Store, Olde Lafayette Village, NJ from 1987 to 2001 and from 2001 to 2009 was the manager of Marty’s Shoes. One of his favorite positions was as a Transporter for Hertz Rental Car of Augusta from 2009 until his retirement in 2013.

A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and family man, Richard enjoyed family trips. From their family vacations in Long Beach Island and the Outer Banks as well as perfecting the art of nighttime beach crabbing to their many trips to Disney World, Richard loved spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren. Richard had also served two terms as Director and Board member for the Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority.

Pre deceased by his brother Norman Camp, survivors include his beloved wife of fifty one year’s Laura J. (Rzetelny) Camp, his daughters Christine and her husband Ernest Logsdon of Hampton Twp., and Katherine and her husband Edward Acre of Stillwater, his sons Richard T. and his wife Maria of Hollywood, FL, Gregory and Frank Camp both of Byram Twp, his grandchildren Katherine Logsdon, Steven Thropp, Brian Logsdon, Emily Logsdon, Andrew Logsdon, Jillian Acre and Benjamin Camp as well as his sister Cheryl Clary of Wakeman, Ohio.

Visitation will be held Saturday June 7th, 2014 from 12:00 Noon until 4:00 PM immediately followed by Funeral Services at 4:00 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to either the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org or the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation www.arthritis.org
