Barrett, Andrew J. Sr. age 90 or Whiting, NJ passed away peacefully Thursday March 9, 2017 following a brief illness. Born in Morristown, NJ he had lived many years in Parsippany and Sussex County, before moving to Whiting fifteen years ago.
Son of the late Joseph and Philomena (Brisco) Barrett, Andrew had proudly served in the US Army as a PFC during WWII, and later the National Guard until his honorable discharge in 1953. A parishioner of the Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church Branchville, NJ; Andrew loved listening to music like the American Song Book era, Dean Martin and the like. He was a true car enthusiast who enjoyed maintenance and repairs.
A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, Mr. Barrett had a long career starting out as an equipment operator for Port Newark and later for JW Fasano Construction as a Foreman where he worked many years until his retirement 1996.
Andrew was pre deceased by his brothers and sisters, Survivors include his beloved wife of sixty five years Patsy R. (Serafino). Also surviving are his daughter Theresa C. and her husband Paul Utter of Frankford Twp., his sons Joseph T and his wife Marie of Ogdensburg, Andrew J and his wife Debra of Griffin, GA and James and his wife Domenica of Bethlehem, PA. Andrew is also survived by his grandchildren Melanie, Joseph, Sierra, Kelly Reape, Alyssa, Erica, Jessica Barrett, Colton and Clayton Utter as well as a great grandson Michael Kresge.
A funeral Mass will be held Thursday March 16, 2017 at 10:30 AM in the Our Lady Queen of Peace RC Church Branchville. Visitation will be held Wednesday March 15th from 6-9 PM with military honors at 8:30 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St (Rt. 206) Newton.
