Banks, Ann E.
Ann E. Banks, age 96 died peacefully Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born in Friderichsthal, Germany, she came to the United States in 1929 and became a citizen. She lived many years in Ogdensburg, and moving to Fredon Twp., before moving to Newton, NJ 20 years ago.
Daughter of the late Mathias and Anna Baumgarten-Backes. She was a homemaker, also pre-deceased by her first husband John S. Kalafut, Sr. in 1979, and her second husband John A. Banks, Jr. in 2003. Son James M. Kalafut in 2011. Also her sisters Helen Plishka and Hilda Olden. Anna was a parishioner at Immaculate Conception RC Church in Franklin, NJ. Later she was an active parishioner of St. Thomas of Aquin RC Church of Ogdensburg, NJ where she served on the choir and the Rosary Society. Presently she is a member of St. Joseph RC Church of Newton, NJ.
She is survived by her loving children, son Jack S. Kalafut, Jr. and wife Ginny of Blairstown, NJ, David J. Kalafut and wife Linda of Flanders, NJ, daughter Nancy K. Dolan and her husband Bill of Ogdensburg, NJ, daughter-in-law Patty Kalafut of Perkasie, PA. Ann had eight beloved grandchildren and eighteen cherished great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday November 18, 2016 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday November 19, 2016 at 9:00 am from the funeral home with a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph RC Church Newton, NJ. Interment will immediately follow at St. Thomas of Aquin RC Cemetery Ogdensburg, NJ. Iliff- Ruggiero Funeral Home 156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers memorials in Ann’s memory may be made to the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice www.karenannquinlanhospice.org.
