Bamrick, Joan A. age 78 of Newton passed away peacefully Wednesday October 19, 2016 at the Compassionate Care Hospice St. Clare’s Hospital Dover, NJ following a long illness. Born in Sugar Notch, PA she grew up in Luzerne County, PA. Joan had also lived in Boonton, NJ for many years before moving to Newton in 1984.
Daughter of the late Lewis Elmy and Margaret (Burke) Elmy Callahan, Joan had worked many years as a Supervisor for the Gothelf Knitting Mill Boonton, NJ and later also as a Supervisor for the James Alexander Corp. Blairstown, NJ. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she enjoyed her many trips to the Casinos in Atlantic City and Mt. Airy, PA. Mrs. Bamrick was talented in sewing and crochet. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Joan was pre deceased by her beloved husband Charles H. as well as a daughter Shirley Swanson, her brothers Louis and James Elmy and two sisters Mary Dailey and Lorraine Wilson. Survivors include her loving daughter Lynn and her husband Jay Phlegar of Newton, her grandchildren Ellissa and her husband Jason Luksis, Kyle Phlegar, Kevin and Sara Swanson as well as her sisters Shirley Krawietz of Newton and Bernadette Dylski of Wilkes Barre, PA and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday October 22, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St. (Rt.206) Newton, NJ. Interment will follow in the Newton Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home Friday evening Oct. 21, 2016 from 5 to 9PM. In lieu of flowers memorials in Joan’s memory may be made to the Newton Fire Museum #54 Woodside Ave. Newton, NJ 07860.
