Bachert, Eleanor M.
Eleanor M. Bachert age 91 of Newton, NJ died peacefully Monday morning January 20, 2020 in the Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice Fredon Twp., NJ. Eleanor was born in Springfield, MA on May 30, 1928 to Carl and Elsie Johnson.
Mrs. Bachert worked as a clerk for the telephone company before meeting her husband Donald while he was stationed in Springfield, MA during World War II. They were married on October 4, 1947. They were married for 71 years. Eleanor was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family first. Donald and Eleanor lived in Elizabeth, Roselle Park, and Lakewood, NJ and in the last year, Eleanor lived with her daughter, Susan, and family in Newton, NJ. During their years together, they enjoyed winters in Florida and summers in Maine. The whole family enjoyed visiting them in Maine where Eleanor’s cooking was always a highlight of the visit. She also enjoyed reading, knitting, bird watching and most importantly spending time with her family.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Donald E., in January 2019. She is survived by her sons, David (Laurette), Bruce (Cathy), Mark (Ellen), Donald (Karen), and daughter, Susan Dennison (Ron). She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
