Robert Douglas Hunter

Hunter, Robert Douglas age 72 of Andover Twp., died peacefully with his family by his side Saturday February 13, 2010 following a long illness. Born in Dover, NJ he grew up in Wharton, and had lived in Lake Hiawatha, Succasunna and Lake Hopatcong for many years before moving to Andover Twp. 16 years ago. Son of the late Alton Jones and Floris May (Radmore) Hunter, he had served in the US Navy in the post Korean War era. An avid fisherman, Robert enjoyed his many trips to Lake Ontario. An employee of the Roxbury Twp. Board of Education, Robert worked as a Custodian for the past seventeen years, retiring this past December. Mr. Hunter loved spending time with his friends and family, as well as his weekend trips to Atlantic City, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Pre Deceased by his brothers Alton Jones Hunter and William Leroy Hunter Robert is survived by his sons Donald and Shawn Hunter both of Lake Hopatcong and Robert Scott Hunter of Las Vegas, NV, his daughter Christina Hendricks of Newton, his sister Pearl Reinhart of Port St. Lucie, Fl as well as his ten grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are private and under the direction of the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home 156 Main St. (Rt. 206), Newton, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Karen Ann Quinlan Center of Hope Hospice #99 Sparta Ave. Newton, NJ 07860.

Donny, Scotty, Shawn and Chrissy...so sorry to hear of the passing of your dad...I have the fondest memories of growing up yard to yard with all of you, cutting through to the Jones' house, swimming in the pool and your father being such a big part of it.
